Major Paul C. Jackson, Assistant Military Attache for Air, has been appointed military and air attache to the United States Legation, Wellington. —(P.A.) Mr J. M. Sutherland, who has been postmaster at Kaikoura for the last three years, has been promoted to the position of postmaster at Taihape. Messrs W. I. Leonard, T. Rennie, and H. Smallbon, members of the staff of the Christchurch Tramway Board, who are to go on service overseas, were guests of the Tramway Social Club on Saturday evening. Presentations were made by the chairman, Mr A. Mansell. Occasion was also taken to make presentations to Messrs JClive and G. Keller, who are retiring.
