CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION The president (Mr J. H. Clark) presided at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Amateur Billiards Association held recently. The report and balance-sheet, which was considered highly satisfactory, was adopted. The chairman said that the competitions throughout the season had been keenly contested, and that the standard of play had been exceptionally good. The successful teams in the inter-club tourney were A grade: A;A.O. (Albertson,. Kent, find Martin). B grade: Lichfield Club (Phillpots, Gibbons, and Dryden). C grade; R.S.A. (Shaw, Whitfield, and Kennedy), T. Elkis won the Canterbury billiards championship, G. Young the junior championship, and C. Phillpot the snooker. The following officers were elected:— president, Mr J. H. Clark; vice-president. Mr F. Cleveland: judicial committee, Messrs Clark, Cleveland, and Albertson; match committee, Messrs Kent, McGregor, Cleveland: honorary solicitor, Mr J. B. Corbett: honorary auditor, Mr E. R. Caygill; delegate to the New Zealand Amateur Billiards Control Council, Mr A. Albertson; delegate to Pioneer Club, Mr G. S, Simpson; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr G. S. Simpson. It was reported that the New Zealand amateur billiards championship would be played at Christchurch in August, and the best players throughout the Dominion would be competing. Inter-Club Matches The following are the results of the inter-club billiards tournament:— A Grade.—Sydenham (Heaton 200. Simons 200, Clark 171) beat Lyttelton Railway (Elkis 183, Kearns 160, Park 200): W.M.C. I (Choate 200, Anderson 200, Prew 200) beat R.S.A. I (Franklin 194, Tini 169, Hill 194): .A.A.C. II (Prince 195, Grange 200, Griffith 200) beat W.M.C. II (Giles 200, Cranfield 199, King 197); A.A.C. I (Albertson 200, Kent 200, Martin 200) beat Pioneer (Goodchild 55, Blackburn 116, Collins 186).
