Patriotic Fixtures . The patriotic meeting held last month by the. Southland Racing Club resulted in a donation of £1313 to the National Patriotic Fund Boa ref. The exact amount paid over from the Canterbury Jockey Club’s patriotic meeting was £3374 19s 2d. Unusual Position According to a Hawke’s Bay correspondent. there are only three yearlings in commission at Hastings against about 20 at the same time last year. One of these is the well-named Negotiable, a chestnut filly by Coronach from Endorsement, by Iliaq from Endorse, by Paper Money, bred and owned by Mr A. F. Symes. The other two are a filly by Gynerium from Greek Drama by The Greek from Hunts Up, and ; a filly by Bulandshar from Asturisca, by Acre from Asterina. In the Limelight Stock Exchange is likely to be one of the best supported in the Great Northern Hurdles. He finished a close third in the Hamilton Hurdles last week after being taken. to the front about five furlongs from home, and although he has had a good deal of racing this winter, he is expected to benefit by the effort. Another Trial The three-year-old gelding High Play has rejoined N. J. Dwyer’s stable at Oamaru. He has been off the scene since racing in the Waikouaiti Cup. His early racing appeared to knock him out. and it will be interesting to see if he makes a recovery. Royal Stable His Majesty the King will have 11 horses racing this season—seven two-year-olds and four three-year-olds. Captain Boyd-Rochfort has 10 of them, while F. Darling -has a half-brother by Dgstur to Sun Chariot, unbeaten in her last four or five starts as a three-year-old. The* successes of Sun Chariot included the One Thousand Guineas, Oaks, and St. Leger. More Sea Transport The Heddon Bush trainer. F. J. Boyle, took his horses to Dunedin by coastal steamer this week His team consists of Platform. Minton, and Shadow Boy Minton had a run with the Birchwood hounds on Saturday, and will be a fit horse for Wingatui. Platform has also done well. Minton will be ridden by P. J. Boyle, who Will also have the mount on AngloFrench in the Otago Steeplechase. Not. Sent Because of- the restrictions on transport. Fair Trial’s proposed trip to Wingatui for the Dunedin winter meeting had to be cancelled. It is unfortunate, as he is In excellent order at present. He will be hacked about for the remainder of the winter. Recommissioned Noko has resumed training at Invercargill. HOP Off is an aged trotter by Native KWe from a Rey de Oro mare. He is raced by Mr T. Sullivan, and is trained- by U S. Donald, but latest performances do no* suggest victories in the near future.
