entertainment arranged for servicemen According to a report presented at a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League held last evening, men of the Merchant Navy had been offered hospitality in private homes in Christchurch during the last two weeks, and evening parties had been arranged for their entertainment. More than 40 naval ratings (including Allied servicemen and Wrens) had been visited in hospital during the m lt l was stated that the membership of the iunlor branch was about 200, and steps were to be taken to procure a suitable hall for its meetings. It was also reported that within the next few-weeks, Mr J. Wyn Irwin would have given addresses at every secondary school in Canterbury on the league’s work.
