AWARD TO NEW ZEALAND CORPORAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 13. Corporal John Denvir. of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, whose remarkable adventures with the Jugoslavian partisan army, in which he was a battalion commander for a period, were recently published, has been awarded the Soviet Medal i r Y alom - Corporal Denvir enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war and went to the Middle East with the 2nd Echelon. He fought in Libya, then in Greece, where he was taken prisoner by the Germans. Ho escaped and joined the Jugoslav partisans. He was officially presumed dead for a year. He is now back with the New Zealand forces. His wife, Mrs E. J. Denvir, lives at Christchurch.
