SALVAGE AND REPAIR OF DREDGE
* HARBOUR BOARD SPENDS £16,192 The total expenditure on the salvage and restoration of the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s dredge Canterbury has been £16,192 to date. This was reported by Che secretary and engineer (Mr P. W. Fryer) at the board’s meeting yesterday. Mr Fryer added that the restoration of the lining and fittings in the accommodation of the dredge was now almost complete. Asked by Mr R. Browning If he had any idea as to the ultimate cost, Mr Fryer said there was still a substantial account of an unknown amount. The Otago Harbour Board had not rendered its account for the gear and assistance it had provided.
