80TH ANNIVERSARY
— ST, PAUL’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Christchurch,, will'celebrate.the eightieth anniversary of its foundation by a week of special services, beginning on April 16, when the Moderator .of the General Assembly (the Rt. Rev- D. C. Herron) will preach at both services. A congregational tea and social on the Monday will be followed by a choir reunion on the Wednesday, at which the Christchurch Liedertafel will be present. A children’s party will be held on the Friday, and a conversazione and banquet will take place on the Saturday. Concluding services on April 23 will be addressed by the Rev. W. Bower Black and the minister of the church (the Rev. Stuart C. Francis).
A short souvenir history has been issued in booklet form. The development of the church is traced through the ministries of successive clergy. The church organisations are also reviewed. In connexion with the anniversary an appeal for a thanksgiving fund of £ 1500 to renovate the church ’ and other buildings, to, provide better manse accommodation, and to remove the church debt, has been launched.
