RATIONING OFFICE Few applicants for meat coupons attended at the Lyttelton Post Office between 7 and 8 o’clock last night, when the office was open for the distribution of coupons. Except in special circumstances, such as where the applicant lives out of Lyttelton, coupons will be distributed only from 7 to 8 o’clock nightly up to and including Friday next. Ration books must be presented when application is made. The Public Works Department advised the Ashley River Trust at its monthly meeting that a tractor and angledozer had been made available for opening channels in the river bed. The trust’s engineer (Mr R. Mclntyre) said that the work had started and good progress was being made. It was decided to inspect the work early this week.
