Whether the development of a garden could be rated as a permanent improvement to the value of a house property or whether this would be considered part of general maintenance, was a point raised by the chairman of the Urban Land Sales Committee (Mr K. G. Archer) yesterday during the hearing of an application for a property sale. “Well, I went three days A.W.O.L. from camp to put the garden into shape, and was fined £2 10s,” said the vendor, who appeared in uniform. “I think we ought to take that into account in the value of your property,” said Mr Archer—(laughter.)
