OFFICIAL FORECASTS " The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, January 10. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m., by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate south-easterly winds, tending north-easterly. Weather fair to • fine. Temperatures cool, but gradually rising. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the Bouth Island is as follows: Moderate southerly winds turning north-easterly. Weather fair to fine and mild.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER
There was a wind of gale force from the south-west blowing in Christchurch yesterday, but no rain and a sunshine total of eight hours and a half. At 1 o’clock this morning the gale was still blowing, gusts reaching 43 miles an hour, and there were some clouds. The barometer at 20.91 inches (1012.9 millibars) was falling.
