AUSTRALIAN EGG PULP
IMPORTS FOR WINTER USE
Arrangements for the importation of Australian egg pulp to meet the needs of bakers in Canterbury during thewinter, when the prices of fresh eggs are too high, have been made by the Canterbury Egg Floor through the Internal Marketing Division. The managing director of the Egg Floor (Mr C. Ferguson) said yesterday that practically no New Zealand egg pulp has been made this season, and the pulp made from a few cracked and unsaleable eggs had been sold as fresh pulp. “At present 500 tins of egg pulp are used each week in Canterbury.” said Mr Ferguson. “As the normal quantities used have not boon put away this year, the Egg Floor has been compelled to ask bakers to use 50 per cent, of egg pulp and 50 per cent, of egg powder to ensure that there will be sufficient pul'p to meet their requirements until egg prices fall early next August,” Mr Ferguson added that the Egg Floor had been fortunate in securing a sufficient supply of egg powder, but so far it could not guarantee to obtain normal auantities of e*g pulp.
