The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m., by the Meteorological Office, Wellington and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is es follows: Moderate variable winds. Weather fair, with moderate to mild temperatures.

WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate variable winds. A few isolated showers, but weather for the most part fair. Temperatures moderate.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER

The weather was fine and mild yesterday, with light, variable winds in the morning and a fresh north-easterly in the afternoon.

At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and a light south-east breeze was blowing. The barometer, falling slowly, registered 29.92 in (1013.2 millibars).
