CONSPIRACY REPORTED IN SPAIN

p , LONDON. Nov. 1. The Madrid newspaper “El Espanol” to-day reported that Spanish “Masons" had plotted to overthrow General Franco and restore the monarchy. . The paper said that the conspirators intended to install the Pretender to the Spanish Throne, Don Juan, as King of a “democratic monarchy.’’ The story is supported by reproductions of what purport to be Masonic documents and photographs. In these documents Don Juan is described as “manageable." The paper said that he planned to bring Snain into the war on the side of the United Nations.

When the drop in butter-fat production was being discussed before the South Auckland Dairy Association, Mr C. J. Parlane referred to the Government’s vegetable-growing projects; and said he understood it was proposed to convert some thousands of good pasture land into vegetable pilots. Mr Parlane suggested that this move had a bearing on butter-fat production, and added that it would be better if the Government had taken over partly-de-veloped land, such as that at Arapuni, for vegetable-growing.
