LESS MILK FOR BRITAIN
RATION NOW TWO PINTS WEEKLY PRODUCTION BEHIND DEMAND (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 1. The London “Daily Express,’’ in a leading article on the decision to reduce the non-priority milk allowance throughout Britain from the present two and a half pints to two pints weekly, says that Lord Woolton is 24,000,000 pints weekly behind customers’ demands.
“The reason why we are short of milk,” says the newspaper, “is because agriculture is thrown out of balance. The milk shortage emphasises the need for Britain to get back to a well-bal-anced system of agriculture in which livestock is recognised as being just as important as corn.”
