WAR PRISONERS IN ITALY
REDIRECTION OF MAIL ARRANGED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 30. The Prisoners of War inquiry Office has been advised that the International Red Cross has undertaken the redirection of parcels and mail to prisoners of War in Italy as soon as their addresses become known. The Swiss Post Office has been requested to hand over to . the International Red Cross all mails • including parcels, at ptesent in Switzerland. Any mail now in Lisbon or art riving there in the near future will also ■ be sent on to Geneva. ; . In View of the magnitude of the task > Involved, the International Red Cross } strongly urges next-of-kin to limit, as far as possible, sending letters cafe of them. Next-bf-kin are advised that until permanent addresses are received , f° r prisoners of war previously located - in Italy they should continue to ad- ; £ress correspondence care of the High Commissioner for New Zealand > The office reports that a New Zea- ; doctor, writing in June, stated ■ that stocks of medical, invalid, and i 5” llk Parcels in hospitals were ample ; for fny or all emergencies for six 1 months. » t? following a visit by an International Red Cross representative to Oflag XIIB In Germany in March this year 30 complaints were brought forward.
