BOXING

ST. BEDE’S COLLEGE TOURNAMENT The annual boxing tournament by pupils of . St. Bede’s College, held on Saturday evening, provided some of the .most exciting boxing seen at a secondary schools tournament for some years. The boys In the’ different classes were well matched, and the majority In their boxing showed the result of expert coaching. The college championship was won by J. Dickson, who scored a very narrow win over J. Hodglns. who was conceding 91b to weight. J Maybury. 8-7, was awarded a cup presented by Mr C. Bundle, for being the most scientific boxer. Mr S. Morgan was referee, and Messrs E. Leemlng and V. Consedlne were judges. Following were the results:— B. Richards (Bst 121b) beat J. Kane (9st 11b). R. Payton (sst 71b) beat J. Morton (Sst 51b). L. Hanley (Sst 51b) beat B, O’Connor (Sst 81b). P Thompson (6st 71b) beat J. Hollows (6st 41b). A Sheehan (Bst 131b) beat L. Coudon (Sst 31b). M Tomasi (7st 101b) beat D. Lovett (7st 111b). . J Breeze (lOst 21b) beat B. Simpson (lost 51b). B. Cook (9st 111b) beat J. O’Connor (9st 101b). J. Maybury (Bst 71b) beat M. O’Meeghan (Sst 121b) x „ A Mullins (Sst 91b) beat K. Stuart (9st 81b). J.
