"RISINGHOLME"

Sir,—As a resident in Opawa of the same date as “Risingholme,” I am very pleased that the generosity of Mr J. R. McKenzie has- made it an asset to the district, and hope it will be protected from the vandalism so prevalent in our country. I see the City Council has much to say of civic pride, and one wonders where it was in allowing that valuable asset, the “Takahe,” to be so shamefully destroyed. Certainly it showed no appreciation of the work of the founder or those men who gave so much time and skilled labour to its construction.—Yours, etc., OLD RESIDENT. . October 28, 1943. ’
