The New Zealand Farmers’ CO-operatlve Association of Canterbury, Limited, have been favoured with instructions from the Trustees of the late Mr Edward Gates to Sell by Public Auction in their Land Sale Rooms, Cashel street, Christchurch, on Wednesday. September 29; at 2.30 o’clock, those well and favourably known properties, "Swinton Park" and “Stockgrove, to be sold as follows: LOT l ~ „ "Swinton Park comprises Three Hundred and Eighty Nine Acres, Three Roods, and Three Perches (more or less). About two-thirds of this Property compjrlses rich reclaimed swamp land, capable of producing good cereal, crops, and is excellent grass country. The balance is heavy swamp, which lends itself to vast improvement; subdivided into twenty convenient sized paddocks by Gorse, standard, stake, and wire fences, and at present there are 20 acres in green feed, 12 acres for oat crop, 20 acres for rape, balance in grass. BUILDINGS comprise an exceptionally well-built two-storeyed dwelling containing nine rooms, plastered, hot and hot water service, bathroom, washhouse, woodhouse, man’s whare, and dairy. The Dwelling is an exceptionally wellbuilt building, being erected only with the best of materials, while the outbuildings are good and sufficient for the successful working of the farm. “Stockgrove,” well known as one of North Canterbury’s best agricultural and lamb raising properties, was originally part of the Teviotdale Estate, and has only changed hands once during the last forty years.
