CANTERBURY UNION MEETING OP MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE “We thoroughly deserved pur defeat and were beaten by a better team, said Mr 0. Hattersley, manager of the Canterbury team, which was beaten by Ashburton on ; Saturday, at a meeting of the management committee of the Rugby Union last .evening. The team thought they could do all the work necessary in the last quarter of an hour, said Mr Hattersley, and'the game, which was not a very good one from his point of view, would do both Ashburton and Canterbury a lot of ■ good. RUGBY LEAGUE MEETING OP EXECUTIVE A letter was received from the Wellington Rugby League at a meeting of the executive of the Canterbury! Rugby League, stating that arrangements were being made to send a representative.team from )W e lbngton to play a Canterbury team on October 2, Arrangements for a ground for the match would be made later. An application was received from the Sydenham-Rakala Club asking for permission to travel to Greymouth to play a match with Blackball for the Thacker Shield. The Hornby Club asked for permission to play a return match against Ngahere at Greymouth. It was decided to approve of both these matches.
