W. A. Taylor commends the Mackenzie County Council for its effort to save the famous Moriori cave paintings in its district and expresses the hope that the Anglican Church will “restore the oldest remaining church building in Canterbury—the Maori Church at Port Levy.” “Not B’air Play” contends that the shortage of tobacco is caused by “far too much waste” when the tobacco leaf goes to the factory.
•‘C.V.H.” says that the vegetable shortage has been occasioned by the Government’s “blindfolded legislation ’’ Pegging the market gardener down, he contends has resulted in reduced production; and low vegetable prices have put “thousands of backyard plots out of production since people say it is cheaper to buy vege.tables than grow them.’’
