ACCIDENTS
BOY KILLED IN EXPLOSION (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., August 14. Walden Papara, aged 14, son of Mr George Papara, of Himitangi, was killed this morning by the explosion of a shell which was found nearby. They boy went to a milking shed and showed the shell to another person there. Soon after he left an explosion was heard, and the boy was found dead. A four-year-old child with Papara at the time was unhurt. WOMAN FATALLY INJURED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 15. Injuries from which she Mer died were suffered by a young married woman when she fell from a moving motor-car in Surrey crescent about 3 o’clock this morning. The victim was Mrs Alma Elizabeth Laing, aged 28, of Point Chevalier. She leaves one child. Mrs Laing, who suffered a fractured skull, was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where she died.
