OVERSEAS POSTAL REGULATIONS
CONCESSIONS ANNOUNCED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 14. The Postmaster-General (the Hon. P. C. Webb) announces that the British Ministry of Food, in response to representations from the New Zealand Government, has agreed that persons in New Zealand may post to civilian addresses in the United Kingdom for the Christmas period cakes and fruit puddings up to the full weight limit of Sib gross allowed in respect of any one gift parcel. Normally, the quantity of any one foodstuff enclosed in a parcel may not exceed 21b. The concession applies to parcels posted during September and October, but there is no guarantee such parcels will reach Britain in time for Christmas. The Minister added that there was no change in regard to conditions applying to parcels for members of Dominion units in the United Kingdom or Dominion members of British units. Parcels weighing up to 111b are accepted for such addressees, provided that, in the case of those for Dominion members of British units, they are forwarded care of the New Zealand War Services’ Association, London.
