Mr H. G. Abiett. borough inspector, has been gazetted an inspector of food under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act. At the Lyttelton Main School op Monday night a social evening was given by members of the infants’ department mothers’ club in honour of Miss M, Meldrum infant mistress, who is leaving to take up a position at the Beckenham School. In presenting an office chair, the gift of the members, to Miss Meldrum, the secretary, Mrs L Johnston, spoke of the valuable work done by the guest as founder and president of the club In responding. Miss Meldrum said that the willing co-oper-ation of the mothers of children in the infrnls’ department had made the club success and she hoped it would continue its activities.
