A PENSION INQUIRY
Sir,—ls a part-pensioner, receiving economic pension, entitled to earn the necessary amount to bring his pension up to the amount a full pensioner receives? If so, is he allowed to earn the amount of the wages tax extra, or must he pay the wages tax out of the even amount, thus preventing him ever having as much as the full pensioner?— Yours, etc.,
1916-19.
August 2, 1943. [Replying to this letter, the Secretary for War Pensions states that in assessing an economic pension the War Pensions Board, which is the granting authority, is required to take into account any income received and any other matters of economic significance. The actual amount which may be earned in addition to the economic pension itself is determined by the board, having regard to the extent of disablement and the number of dependants. If “1916-19” wishes to know the position in his own particular case, it is suggested that he get in touch with the local Registrar of War Pensions who will assist him in his inquiry.]
