VICEREGAL
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 10, At Government House this morning his Excellency the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) handed to Mr and Mrs E, E. Edmunds, of Scatoun, Wellington, the Distinguished Flying Cross which was awarded to their late son, Flight Lieutenant E. G. Edmunds, R.N.Z.A.F.
Mr R. Jones, J.P., was last evening unanimously re-elected a representative of the Association of Employees on the Board of Governors of Christchurch Technical College.
Lieutenant Colonel J, P, E. Veale, Christchurch, has received an airgraph letter from the Red Cross Prisoners of War Department. Educational Books Section, Oxford, that his son, Major L. H. Veale. recently sat for examinations of the Chartered Insurance Institute (Associateship Part 1, Fire Branch) in the German prison camp, Oflag VII B. and has been successful. “We think he deserves hearty congratulations. and we thought you would like to know of his success,” said the letter, which added that Major Veale had been notified.
