The present property was in the hands of the National War Funds Council, said Mr Willcox. The lease fell due next June and the executive should consider whether it would not be best to raise the £3OOO to make the property freehold and then proceed-with new proposals. “With the aid of some of our friends among the citizens of Christchurch, I think we could wipe out our debt." he said. The suburban 'associations were also collecting funds for their own rooms in the suburbs so a broad policy on buildings and appeals should be considered, he said. Archdeacon A. J. Petrie suggested a discussion at the next general meeting of members on August 18, but Mr J. K. Moloney said that big meetings could never arrive at anything conclusive, It was decided to hold a special meeting of the executive on the subject. A suggestion from the billiards committee that a Wellington team be invited to play a Christchurch team caused a short debate. Mr E. Orchard said he considered the time was not opportune for such a visit and that the expense was not warranted, but Mr D W Russell contended that greater reciprocation of visits was essential to the health of the association and he suggested that the fixture be approved and that teams from southern branches should be invited to make up a tournament. It was agreed to extend invitations along these lines. ■
