WAINONI BUS
Sir,—May I be permitted to state a little more evidence in support of my recent request for the running of the 5.12 p.m. bus non-stop to the corner of Worcester street and Woodham road? To-night at least two Wainoni terminus passengers were left behind owing to the crowded bus. In fairness to the driver I will say that on reaching the Square he called out, "Wainoni passengers only." This, unfortunately, did not solve the problem,, as when we reached Ollivier's road at least seven people left the bus and another three by the time Dallington was reached. These passengers could have travelled by the 5.8, 5.22, or 5.30 p.m. Dallington buses and then our "unfortunates' would not have had to wait till 5.40, our next Wainoni bus. We still had 15 standing passengers when we left my "suggested first stoD," and surely this should convince the authorities.— Yours, etc., „„ J. C. BRADLEY. August 4, 1943. [Commenting on this letter, the general manager of the Christchurch Tramways (Mr H. E. Jarman) says: "The bulk of passengers travelling on this route are Linwood-Dallington passengers, and, with Wainoni passengers, all have equal opportunities of boarding the 5.12 p.m. bus. The more infrequent service for Wainoni passengers however, is recognised. Drivers will be instructed to give preference to Woodham road and Wainoni passengers on this trip, and the result will be checked."]
