ROUGH RIDERS’ REUNION

SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS The annual reunion of the 3rd Contingent (Rough Riders), veterans of the South African War. was held in the Veterans' Hall on Saturday evening, 13 members and one visitor attending, under the chairmanship of the president, Mr R. O. Gill. A number of apologies were received from members unable to attend, some because of illness. Symnathy was expressed with Mr W. J. Ellison, the honorary secretary, in his illness. This was the first occasion in 30 years that Mr Ellison had been absent from the reunion. The annual report stated that funds were in a satisfactory condition. Mr Arthur Ireland was elected president, Mr W. J. Ellison honorary secretary. the previous year’s executive was re-elected, and Messrs A. Syme and W. J. Ellison were elected trustees The remainder of the evening was spent in the exchange of reminiscences of old comrades and the campaign in South Africa.
