RESULTS OP LAND AND WATER TRIALS In conjunction' with its annual retriever championship trial, the Canterbury Gun Club conducted a series of trials on Mr Shipley’s property at Harewood recently. Both land and water trials proved very difficult, and several of the dogs failed to find their birds, Mr McDermott judged all events, i Results were as .follows; Retriever championship: J. M. Mitchell’s Darkle of Hawea, 178 points, 1; S. M. Auton’s Bronze Queen, 165 points, 2; H. Cox’s Colonel Bruce, 164 points, 3. Sweepstake, open: H. Cox’s Princess Gwen, 169 points, 1. Limit class land: G. L. Harris’s Pattervale Pamela, 82 points, I; s. M. Auton’s Bronze Queen, 81 points, 2; L. S. Mclsaac’s Wendy of Talnui. 79 points, 3. Novice class, water: I. S. Mclsaac’s Wendy of Talnui. 91 points, 1; H. Cox’s Bruce Junior. 90 points. 2. Puppy Class: M. P, Leathern’s Skipper’s Pride, 92 points, l; L. S. Mclsaac’s Lass of Corbella, 87 points, 2.
