4 —— CHRISTCHURCH DOMAINS BILL PASSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 0. The Legislative Council to-day passed without amendment the Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill, the Christchurch Domains Amendment Bill, the Wajapu County Council (Tokon.aru Harbour) Empowering Amendment Rill, the Napier Borough Empowering Bill, and the Taupiri Drainage and ’River District Amendment Bill. An amendment moved by the Hon. B. C. Robbins in the committee stage,, seeking an increase in the minimum width of Napier servicelsnes to 24 feet from 10 feet, .vas defeated on a division by 13 to three. The council also divided in committee »n a clause in the Taupiri Drainage Bill, giving plural voting Several members spoke against the principle of plural voting, which was defended by the Hon. W. H Mclntyre, br it was pointed out that rejection of the clause would penalise settlers in the drainage area. The clause was retained as part of the bill bv 13 to four the objectors being the Hons. J. K. Archer. T. F. Doyle. A. Campbell, and V A. Ward. The council adjourned until Wednesday next. CONTROL OF REFRIGERANT GAS CYLINDERS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. August 6. "From both Washington and London we have been told that unless refrigerant gas cylinders are returned any orders we place ,for methyl chloride, freon, sulphur dioxide, or carbon dioxide cannot be met Either we supply empty cylinders or we get no supplies That." said the Minister of Sunnly (the ,Hon D. G. Sullivan), "makes it necessary to ensure that °mr)ty cvlmders are returned, and to that end we have gazetted the Refrigerant Gas Cylinder Control Notice." ■"
