QUEEN CARNIVAL Norwich quay was thronged with more than 2000 persons on Saturday afternoon when a fair was held in aid of the various queens taking part in ■/* the contest for the Patriotic Fund. Stalls lined the street and several business premises were converted into amusement parlours and tearooms for the afternoon. Features of the proceedings were a procession (in which Derry’s Band and the Christchurch Pipe Band took part), a wheelbarrow race, and a mock court. Many prominent citizens and at least one visitor to the port from an Allied country were arrainged before a bewigged judge, and fines ranging up to £lO were imposed. Stall-holders say that the public was in a spending mood, and it is expected that the amount raised at the fair will prove to be considerable. Ambulance Church Parade
