MINISTER’S HINT

DEVELOPMENTS IN WESTERN PACIFIC “ MORE PROUD THAN EVER OF NEW ZEALANDERS ” A hint that important news would soon bo available concerning New Zealanders in action in the western Pacific was given by the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) when speaking in Christchurch yesterday before the Businessmen’s Club. The Minister was dealing with his recent trip to Guadalcanal where he called on his way back from the United States, and went on to say that he had also been at Espiritu Santo, in the New Hebrides Group. He indicated that some New Zealanders had moved from there into the forward zone. “But for the fact that the Americans have not released the information,” said Mr Nash, “I could tell you of some important happenings that have taken place within the last 10 days. However, you will have to wait for this information, though you will read it with much interest when it does appear. All I can say is that it has made me more proud than ever of our New Zealanders.”
