VICTORIAN ELECTION RESULTS
GOVERNMENT STILL IN POWER (Rec. 9.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, June 13. When counting ceased in the Victqrjan elections last night it was indicated that the Dunstan Country Party and United Australia Party Government would continue in power. One Minister (Mr E. J. Hogan) is in danger of losing his seat. The strength of the new House is likely to be; Country Party, 26 seats, which is a gain of one; Labour. 23, a gain of two; United Australia Party 12, a loss of four; Independent Labour, 1; Independents, 3. Labour has definitely won a city seat from the United Australia Party, and appears likely to win one more from the United Australia Party and one from the Country Party. Another United Australia Party seat has probably gone to an Independent. However, the Country Party will probably win one rural seat from Labour and another at the expense of the United Australia Party. This means that the Country Party with the assistance of the United Australia Party will remain in power.
