ARRIVAL AT OHAKEA
LANCASTER BOMBER’S TRIP PASSENGERS MET BY GOVERNOR-GENERAL (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., June 11. - The Lancaster bomber landed #J , Ohakea shortly after 4 o’clock from Melbourne, the journey taking •, seven hours and 39 minutes from takeoff to landing, but seven hours ana six minutes from Melbourne to Mount Egmont. The crew, headed by Flight Lieutenant P. Isaacson, are all Australians •who . served together on operational flights . over Europe. Flight Lieutenant Isaacson holds the D.F.C. and D.F.M. The average speed across the Tasman was 191 miles an hour, and the 3 machine travelled mostly at an altitude of 10,000 feet. j T . 1 The passengers, who included Lord Burghley, British Controller of Repair and Overseas Supplies, were met by the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall), Air Commodore R. V. Goddard, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, and the United Kingdom High Commissioner (Sir Harry Batterbee).
