Mental Hospital Staffing—Adjournments sine die were granted by the Auckland Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday in all cases, including four cases where the reservists concerned opposed the appeals, when the mental hospital staff position was investigated. Mr F. J. Cox, the Crown representative, said there was a shortage of 89 males and 26 females on mental hospital staffs in the Dominion, and he was instructed to press for adjournments, whatever was the physical grading of the men. The appeal board was asked to exempt 72 mental employees from military service. Six of the 11 institutions in the Dominion were in the Auckland district. There had been no increase in insanity on account of the war, but staffing wag most difficult. Of the appeals Set down, 45 were grade one men.—P-A,
