TRIAL ON CHARGE OF MURDER

DEATHS OF AMERICAN MARINES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 10. The trial of John Sidney Crawford, a South African seaman, aged 26, for the alleged murder of two United States Marines, at No. 17, Terrace Gardens, on January 7. was opened today before Mr Justice Smith. After an adjournment to arrange accommodation for the jury during the trial, which is expected to last all this week, Mr W. H, Cunningham opened the case and outlined the evidence. There are 22 witnesses to be heard, and three seamen gave evidence before going overseas.
