The embargo on shipment of potatoes to the North Island - till the middle or end of this month has resulted in restricted business in this commodity. Growers have a limited local market, apart from the camps, because of the number of people with sufficient grown to carry them on for some time yet. There is nothing further to report In the white oats position. The market for Algerian® is slightly firmer, and not many lines of good quality are offering. The market for most classes of grass and clover seed is quiet, with little demand from overseas. There is a slightly better demand for white clover, and red clover is now starting to be offered on the local market,
Quotations are nominal for most classes of produce.
Maori Gold.—The return for the week ended April 9, 1943, was 520z 4dwt in 124 hours from 14.000 yards.
