LAST SEASON’S RECORDS BATTING AND BOWLING FIGURES Statistics taken from last season’s senior cricket competition show that five batsmen batted in at least 10 Innings for an average of more than 40, and that two bowlers took more than 50 wickets for an average Of less than 10. The honour of being Canterbury's best all-rounder for the season goes to Hadlee. who narrowly defeated Scott for top place in the bowling averages, and finished third In the list of batsmen, with an average of 48, A. W. Roberts also proved himself successful with both bat and ball, appearing seventh in the batting averages and fourth in the bowling. L. A. Milncs, whose name Is not included on the batting list because he had not had 10 innings, averaged 52.87 for nine innings. Milnes fulfilled the promise he showed in Christchurch in the early part of the season by his success in representative games. Scott, who played for the South Island Army XI, had more wickets to his credit than any other bowler, taking 60 for the season. Hadlee, Uttley, and Cromb, the former New Zealand captain, all made more than 700 runs in the competition.
