OFFICIAL ADVICE RECEIVED
mA) INVERCARGILL, April 6. Official advice was rece j ved by Mrs Hargest that her . husband, Brigadier J. Hargest, and Brigadier R. Miles are in Switzerland.
A recent cablegram from London reported Reuter’s Lugano correspondent as saying that two New Zealand generals who were prisoners m had escaped to Switzerland *nd it was believed in London that the generals might be Brigadier Hargest and Brigadier Miles. Both were in thp same camp near Florence. Hargest and Miles were captured at the battle of Sidi Rezegh Libyan campaign, when the New Zealand sth Infantry Brigades portions were over-run by the panzers. Brigadier' Miles was wounded and it has been reported that he and Brigadier Hargest were taken to Italy in a submarine.
