THREE-BALL PAIRS TOURNAMENT A three-ball pairs bowling tournament , was played on the Shirley green on Friday and Saturday. Six rounds of section play were completed on Saturday afternoon, leaving seven pairs with five or more wins. These were Gaffney and Turpin (Canterbury) and Munn and Ives (Canterbury), with six wins, and McDougall and Quirke (Spreydon), Gibson and Soanes (Shirley). Shaw and Giles (Canterbury), Johns and Ramsay (Shirley), and Harris and Iggo (Sydenham), each with five wins. In the first round of post-section play, the two Shirley and the Sydenham pairs were eliminated, Ives’s Canterbury pair having the bye. Fifteen ends were played in post-section games. In an 11-end final, Gaffney and Turpin (Canterbury) beat the other surviving Canterbury pair (Shaw and Giles), 10-5. Results were as follows: Section A—Third round: Chatfield beat Ramsay, Iggo beat Carrington, Kay beat Chambers, Besley beat McNish, Christie beat Alexander, Ives beat Roberts, Soanes beat Dey, Bridgeman beat Watson. Fourth round; Ramsay beat Alexander, Dey beat Carrington, Kay beat Christie, McNish beat Watson, Besley beat Chambers, Ives beat Chatfield. Soanes beat Roberts, Iggo beat Bridgeman. Fifth round: Ives beat Watson, Besley beat Carrington, Chatfield beat Kay, Dey beat Bridgeman, Soanes beat Chambers, Alexander beat McNish Ramsay beat Christie, Iggo beat Roberts: Sixth round: Ramsay beat Besley, Carrington beat McNish, Bridgeman beat Kay. Soanes beat Alexander, Watson beat Chambers, Ives beat Christie. Iggo beat Dey, Chatfield beat Roberts. Section B.—Third round: Taylor beat Fletcher, Quirke beat Daboume, Rowlands beat Paton, Turpin beat Madsen, Watkins beat Newton, Kebby beat Giles, Williams beat Timms. Burgess beat Robinson. Fourth round; Newton beat Fletcher, Dabourne beat Timms, Watkins beat Rowlands, Turpin beat Robinson, Paton beat Madsen, Giles beat Taylor, Burgess beat Quirke, Williams beat Kebby. Fifth round: Giles beat Robinson, Dabourne drew with Madsen, Taylor beat Rowlands, Timms beat Burgess, Paton beat Williams. Turpin beat Newton, Watkins beat Fletcher, Quirke beat Kebby. Sixth round: Fletcher beat Madsen, Turpin beat Dabourne, Rowlands beat Burgess. Williams beat Newton, Robinson beat Paton, Giles beat Watkins, Quirke beat Timms, Kebby beat Taylor.
