EGGS
Sir—As an egg producer I would like information on the following points. If a country grocer is paying Is 9d for ungraded eggs has he the right to pay even less for the smaller eggs seconds not pullets, and the ungraded price for the remainder, which are standard to heavy grade? I have always taken a pride in my eggs and have always sold them clean and fresh. At present there are not enough to fill a crate each week to rail, and it is with no little inconvenience that I endeavour to deliver the eggs to the grocer six miles away, as, with the zoning, he can only collect on his fortnightly round. I do not consider the price given, less cost of delivery, a fair price for clean, fresh eggs. It seems to me labour handling eggs at the depots is better remunerated than the producer.—Yours, eta.
