Methods of combating the rabbit menace will be considered at a conference at Dunedin next week, which is being convened at the suggestion of the Otago Provincial Council of the New' Zealand Farmers’ Union, Delegates from various parts of the South Island will attend. The members of the Rabbitskin Committee set up by the Government to operate the rabbitskin levy scheme, which was introduced last year, will be present. The executives of the Farmers’ Union and ‘s'neepowners’ Federation will select delegates who will no doubt be representative of the parts of the country most severely affected by the rabbit menace. The Rabbiters’ Association has been asked to send 10 delegates. Several methods of combating the menace have been tried during the last few years, but the problem has still to be solved, and the number of rabbits appears to be increasing.
