MILK STANDARD TO BE MAINTAINED

STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, February 28. A statement that the Government proposed to permit Christchurch milk vendors to supply milk below the prescribed regulation standard for butterfa' content was described as incorrect by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) on Saturday. The statement was contained in a resolution of protest from the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union about the Christchurch milk supply, when it had been stated that permission to supply milk below standard was being considered.

Mr Fraser said this allegation was made although he had made it clear during the Christchurch East by-elec-tion that neither the Government nor the Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmcyer) had given any such decision and although he had announced that the standard would be maintained.
