SIXTH PERIOD IMPORT LICENCES
EXTENSION FOR DELAYED GOODS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 25. An announcement on import licences for the sixth period for goods which may not reach the Dominion by June SO. the date up to which present licences are valid, was made by the Acting-Minister of Customs (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeycr) to-day. The Minister stated that a similar procedure had been adopted to that used in connexion with fifth period licences, namely, that when the delivery of goods was delayed through war conditions, and the goods arrived during the next licensing period, their entry was to be permitted.
Therefore, if it could be established 1o the satisfaction of the Controller of Customs, that a Arm’s orders had been placed by the licence-holder under a sixth-period licence and accepted by th > overseas supplier not later than December 31, 1942, the Collector of Customs, on request, would, if the goods did not arrive in the Dominion before June 30. 1943, grant a seventh period licence to enable the goods to be entered after that date, provided that the sixth-period licence was surrendered. The Minister announced that no further extension was being granted on special sixth-period licences, issued in lieu of fifth-period licences and these should be surrendered after June 30.
