■ Tho-sum of. £4O for .the British Sai-: lors’ Society was.raised at a party and sale of work held yesterday afternoon at “Chippenham,” the home of Sir Hugh Acland and Lady Acland. in Brown’s road. The gathering, arranged by Lady Acland and Miss Effie White, was to have been held in the lovely grounds at "Chippenham,” but when the weather became threatening early in the afternoon the stock of the stalls was moved indoors, where satisfactory business was done and a pleasant time was spent by the visitors, many of whom arrived after the rain had begun. The lady editor of “The Press” gratefully acknowledges receipt of a pullover for the Lady Galway Guild and a packet of stamps from Hastings street, Sydenham.
