Mr John Deans, of “Kirkstyle.” Coalgate, has been re-elected chairman of the New Zealand Sheepbreeders’ Association.
The Rev. M, A. Rugby Pratt, of Christchurch, has been appointed president of the New Zealand branch of the Wesley Historical Society. The secretary is the Rev. George I. Laurenson, of Auckland. Tribute was paid at the Methodist Conference in Christchurch last night to thd memory of the Rev. Samuel Henderson, of New Plymouth, the Rev. A. B. Chappell, of Auckland, the Rev. Percy R. Paris, of Wellington, the Rev. Vincent le C. Binet, of Otorohanga, and to Messrs William T. Hooper and Hari A. Pereiki, home missionaries. All had died since the last Conference.
Motions of condolence with relatives and appreciation of the services of the late Mr W. H. P. Barber, member for Newtown, and Mr G. A. Marchant, a former member for Taranaki, were passed on the motion of the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser), seconded by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr S. G. Holland), in the House of Representatives. The House rose at 3.35 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. to-morrow as a mark of respect to their memory (P.A.)
Members of the North Canterbury Hospital Board at their meeting yesterday stood in memory of Mr John Heslop, a former representative of the Ellesmere County from 1938 to 1941, Mr Orton Bradley, a member from 1912 to 1920, Mr W. H. Cooper, a member from 1913 to 1919, Sister Moloney, who was associated with the tuberculosis dispensary at the Christchurch Public Hospital for 13 years, and Mr R. McCammon. who was on the works staff.
