REHABILITATION PLANS FOR SUMNER
SUGGESTIONS APPROVED BY BOROUGH COUNCIL
After receiving a report of a committee set up to consider a programme of works for rehabilitation the Sumner Borough Council, at its meeting this v;eek, approved of the following, in the order of preference submitted, subject to a clear understanding being arrived at as to what financial assistance would be made available by the Storm water drainage scheme for the whole borough. Construction of a road, with facing wall, from Simpson’s corner at Pratt street along the sea front to Beach street. Extension by means of a coping, approximately three feet, in height, of a sea wall in Estuary road from Beach street to Jones’ corner (Lot 6, D.P. 1178). Bathing facilities. Straightening and making road at Clifton Bay and widening corner (in conjunction with Main Highways Board). Completion of reading and paths in the valley area. Drainage and levelling of playing area at Redcliffs. Road widening at Monck’s Spur road bend; road widening on Clifton; road widening and parking-area at Taylor’s Mistake. Boat harbour and road construction, Scarborough, seafront. If the property can be made available, development of the Redcliffs rifle range as a reserve. It was decided that a sum of money should be provided for on next year’s estimates to cover the cost of a report from a civil engineer as to the best means of disposing of the stormwater in the borough and dealing effectively with it at the various outlets.
