N.Z. SOLDIER’S BROADCAST
TALK FROM SECRET (STATION (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 16. Corporal Jack Denver, of the 20th Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade, 2nd N.Z.E.F., broadcast recently from the secret radio'station of the People’s Freedom Army in Jugoslavia. According to a bulletin of the Free Italy Movement in London, Denver was taken prisoner in Greece on April 28 1941. He escaped from a prison camp at Maribor in the following December and joined General Mikhailovitch’s patriot army in Slovenia. Denver broadcasting said: "In the partisans’ army are Poles, German and Italian deserters, and several Britons. We are fighting to free the territories of all these men who are tremendously daring." It is under-, stood that Denver is the only Britisher who so far has broadcast from Axiscontrolled territory.
