RUGBY FOOTBALL

N.Z.E.F. BEATS CAIRO TEAM ’ (Official War Correspondent N.Z.E.F.) ' CAIRO, January 10. \ Fast Rugby was again played by the - New Zealand Expeditionary Force side i at the week-end, when it defeated the < Cairo area British team by 16 points to 6. The New Zealanders’ tries were j scored by Kirschberg (two), G. F.Hart , (the All Black, who played a grand ; game), and Ratema (the Maori crack 1 swimmer, who as a wing three-quarter > scored the prettiest try of the match). 1 Cairo’s points came from a dropped ’ goal from a mark and a penalty goal. £ The match attracted a crowd of 5000 . to the Gezira sporting ground. New Zealand was beaten in the set scrums, but the forwards controlled the game in the loose. Although the match was not up to the standard of that in which the New Zealanders beat the Springboks, it was interesting throughout, with brilliant patches.
