Christmas Remittances. —The Minister ol Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) an-1 nouncod yesterday that, in spite of ai previous notification of an earlier clos-j ing date for Christmas remittances to members of the armed forces overseas, people were continuing to forward bank receipts to the respective departments at Base Records, Air Headquarters, and the Navy Office, The number of ordinary remittances was particularly heavy, and although expeditious dispatch was being given, remitters were advised that it it was intended that members of the armed forces should receive money for the Christmas and New Year period bank receipts should be in the hands of Base Records. Air Headquarters, or the Navy Department by Wednesday, December Hi. otherwise transmission would be delayed—(P.A.)
